Teaching/Education
It's all about courses...
If you really want to make a positive difference to individuals and the wider world, teaching is one of the most rewarding ways to do it. You can work with people of all ages and backgrounds, helping their growth and development and, ultimately, improving social and educational standards across society. What's more, you can teach in subject areas that you excel in and are passionate about.
Bringing Teaching to Life
UWS is one of Australia's largest providers of professional teachers, with over 1,000 new graduates each year. And there are plenty of good reasons why UWS is the road most travelled for people wanting the best start in a teaching career.
In developing and fine-tuning our programs to be the best possible for educators of today and the future, we undertook extensive research into the changing environment of teaching and education, looking not just to Australia, but also to Europe and North America.
You may embrace the idea that learning is for life, and recognise the opportunities adult education opens for helping others maximise their potential. Not only is UWS's Adult Education program one of the few undergraduate degree programs in Adult Education available in NSW, it is designed to be one of the most comprehensive on offer.
It's all about our students...
Courses are designed so you hit the workforce work-ready – with a strong balance of theory and practical skills, to help you adapt to new challenges and complexities as they arise. Studies also have a strong social justice focus, aimed at improving educational standards across the board.
Whatever area of education you wish to work in, UWS provides a clear and direct pathway.
If your passion is to work with young children, the comprehensive nature and contemporary focus of our early childhood programs will give you a head start down that road. And, there are pathways to help you fast track into higher-level positions earlier in your career.
It's all about opportunities...
The practical experience you'll gain in our primary teaching program will have you confidently up and running right from your first day at school. With two qualifications instead of one, your employment prospects and career progression are greatly enhanced.
Maybe you've already completed a specialist degree or are well on the way to doing so. A secondary teaching qualification is the bridge to a clear career path where you can use those specialist skills and knowledge to help create tomorrow's generation of leaders in their chosen fields.
If you want to work in Special Education, we offer the Master of Teaching (Special Education) qualification, available once you've completed a recognised teaching degree. It allows you to specialise in areas such as early childhood intervention, inclusive settings, supported settings and gifted education.
