What is Orientation?
Orientation is an opportunity to find out more about your course, what services are available to assist you, how to navigate your way around your campus and is a great opportunity to meet academic staff and other students in your course.
At UWS we conduct a series of induction and orientation activities over a three week period that includes course sessions, Library tours, preparation for University classes and campus familiarisation. .
Week 0 (Orientation) is the week commencing 20 July, 2009 and is when course sessions are held.
Week 1 is the week commencing 27 July, 2009 when classes start.
Orientation Assistants will be available on campus to answer any questions you may have about starting your studies at UWS during Weeks 0, 1 and 2.
Why should I attend Week 0 (Orientation)?
- You will be able to start making friends with students from your course early. Social contacts are an important part of university life
- You will have the opportunity to meet and talk with academic and administrative staff who can help you settle into your studies
- You can ask lots of questions in an informal and friendly atmosphere
- You can learn more about the skills that will help you succeed at university
- You can find your way around campus following the self guided campus tour so that from day one you know where you are going
- You can kick start you studies by getting to know everything that the UWS Library offers
- You can learn about the services and facilities the university provides for your support

Academic Preparation
