Mature Age Entry

Did you know that mature age entry at UWS is not about being over 21, you can be 17, 18, 19, 20 and over 21!!! At UWS the application process is that of a non current school leaver, simply meaning, not sitting the HSC or IB at the time of applying for University.

You may be returning to study, considering a change in career or wanting information on how to enter university as a mature aged student, this is the checklist for you.

1) Search the UWS Areas of Study to find a course of interest to you

Arts courses
Business courses
Creative and Communication Arts courses
Engineering and Information Technology courses
Forensics courses
Health Sciences, Nursing and Sport Studies courses
Law courses
Medicine course
Natural and Built Environment, Tourism courses 
Policing and Criminology courses
Psychology courses
Science courses
Social Science courses
Teaching Education courses

2. Consider the course fees - Undergraduate course fees vary depending on the course and study load of each student. Information about student contribution amounts and payment options for prospective students is available at the external GoingtoUni website

3. Find out about Scholarships - A number of Scholarships are now available for application online! You are welcome to browse through our wide range of Scholarships for more information.

4. Attend Events - Prospective students, their friends and family are invited to attend a number of UWS Events throughout the year. Guided campus tours, parent information evenings, Open Day and UWS Day's provide excellent opportunities to find out more about UWS opportunities first hand, on campus. Information can be accessed online at the UWS Events page.

5. Find out about Student Life at UWS. Navigate the Student Life pages to find out about the support services that are available to current UWS students; the facilities that UWS has and examples of current student experiences.

There are a number of student support services available specifically for mature aged students and information can be accessed from the Mature Age Orientation information (take a sneak peek).

6. Be prepared - by knowing about the Alternative Pathways to UWS.
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
- Unitrack: Individual Unit enrolment at UWS;
- UWS College: Diploma Pathways and Foundation programs;
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) Pathways from Community College, TAFE and Private Colleges.

Once you have all the information you need - you are ready to apply online to the University Admissions Centre (UAC).
