Admission

Applications from Australian citizens and holders of permanent resident visas must be made via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

International applicants must apply directly to the University of Western Sydney via UWS International.

Applicants who have undertaken studies overseas may have to provide proof of proficiency in English. Details of minimum English proficiency requirements and acceptable proof can be found on the Universities Admissions Centre website (UAC).

Overseas qualifications must be deemed by the Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) to be equivalent to Australian qualifications in order to be considered by UAC and UWS.

Applicants must have successfully completed one of the following:

An Australian (bachelor) undergraduate degree or equivalent in any discipline

OR

A masters degree or equivalent in any discipline

OR

An Australian graduate certificate or equivalent in accounting

OR

An Australian advanced diploma or equivalent in accounting AND have five years full time equivalent business experience.

Qualification for this award requires the successful completion of 60 credit points by choosing six units from either Master of Professional Accounting (MPA), course code 2689 or Master of Commerce (Accounting), course code 2688 or any other UWS postgraduate offered units approved by the respective head of program.

Graduate Diploma in Accounting

Applicants who have included accounting units in their first degree and are seeking professional recognition in Australia should have their qualifications assessed by a professional accounting body. Depending on the number of units required following assessment by a professional body, applicants may elect to study the Graduate Certificate in Accounting (four units), or the Graduate Diploma (six units) or the Master of Professional Accounting if more than six units is required. On completion of the Graduate Diploma, graduates who meet the entry criteria may wish to pursue further studies in the Master of Commerce (Accounting) program.
