We invite you to discover how the University of Western Sydney can set you on the right path for your dream career. But it's not just about the destination – the journey is just as important. And at UWS, we offer an exciting and enriching study experience, preparing you for personal and professional success, whatever field you wish to specialise in. As one of the largest universities in Australia, the University of Western Sydney sets students up for success through a broad range of degrees.
With campuses spread across Greater Western Sydney – from Campbelltown to Parramatta to Hawkesbury – UWS offers specialised purpose-built learning facilities, providing the perfect environment to put knowledge into action and gain critically important experience.
You will learn from researchers whose groundbreaking work is recognised nationally and around the world, and lecturers whose passion is teaching and learning excellence.
To ensure you have the most enriching experience at university, we have designed and implemented a range of opportunities such as the The UWS Advantage, The Academy, Student Exchange, and industry-supported practical internships, while our scholarships and leadership programs can help you shape a successful future.
Teaching and Learning Excellence
The University of Western Sydney has a reputation for teaching and learning excellence. We value innovation, and learning techniques such as podcast lectures, access to an online learning portal and interactive classes ensure the time you spend with us is fulfilling, stimulating and rewarding.
Gaining practical experience is the key ingredient for your success in the workplace after graduation, and forms part of most degree programs.
Internationally recognised research
Imagine learning from those undertaking high-impact research that will make a difference to contemporary life around the world.
That's the reality at UWS. Our internationally recognised research programs focus on our communities, contributing to and enhancing our region's cultural, economic, environmental and educational development.
Nationally, our reputation for research excellence has placed us in the Australian Research Council's (ARC) funding top 20, underlining our position among the best in the country. Two of the University's key research areas – cultural studies and plant biology – were labelled "well above world standard'', achieving the highest ranking possible, in the 2010 ARC Excellence in Research for Australia evaluation.
If a career in research is your calling, UWS offers training programs for postgraduate research students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career researchers – helping to develop future generations of researchers.
Indigenous Graduate Attribute
Recognising the importance of understanding Indigenous Australian histories and cultures, the Indigenous Graduate Attribute adds Indigenous-specific content to elements of study for existing courses at UWS.
Core units with Indigenous content now complement courses across disciplines including Nursing, Medicine, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Law, Psychology, Arts and Humanities.
UWS graduates will gain an appreciation of the history and culture of Indigenous Australia, as well as knowledge and skills which can be applied through productive work in Indigenous communities, but will be equally important across a wide range of career paths.
UWS is the first university in the country to commit to incorporating formal study and assessment of Indigenous Australian histories and cultures in all courses – a major achievement for the University.

Degrees of Success
Degrees offered at UWS are designed for success. They offer flexibility, practical skill development and the theoretical knowledge you need to become a career-ready graduate.
We also offer a range of advanced or combined degrees to help you reach even higher levels of success.
Students in the advanced degrees are invited to apply for the elite UWS Future Leaders' Aspire Program, are supported by an academic mentor throughout their degree, and gain experience in undertaking their own research.
In 2013 we are introducing new degrees which will further enhance your options.
