The Bachelor of Community and Social Development is designed for Indigenous students who wish to contribute to building sustainable capacity in Indigenous communities. Graduates from the degree will be skilled to work with Indigenous families and communities in a range of settings and capacities and to contribute to the leadership and sustainability of Indigenous communities. In particular the degree provides three different strands of skills and knowledge: skills in working directly with families in providing welfare advocacy; skills and knowledge in community development; and skills and knowledge in community leadership and sustainability.

Location

The Bachelor of Community and Social Development is offered on Bankstown campus in block mode, requiring students to attend four to six residential schools per year, each generally of one to two weeks duration. Where students are completing placement requirements, blocks may differ in length or scheduling.

Career Opportunities:

Examples include employment with government agencies such as NSW Community Services, NSW Health; non-government Indigenous and non-Indigenous community welfare and community development agencies; and land councils and other governance organisations.

Additional Information:

Travel, accommodation and meals to attend residentials are funded for approved away-from-base students. Students may also be eligible for ITAS Tutorial Assistance.
